石菖蒲（セキショウブ）精油は、Acorus calamus の根茎から得られる、非常に芳香が深く、歴史的にも重要な精油です。この植物は数千年にわたり、複数の古代医療体系において尊ばれてきました。中国伝統医学（TCM）では 菖蒲（Chāng Pú） として知られ、『神農本草経（Shénnóng Běncǎo Jīng）』などの古典文献にも記録されており、思考の明晰さを支え、心身のバランスを整える植物として位置づけられてきました。

中国では、Acorus calamus は湿地帯や河川沿い、沼沢地などに自生し、清らかな流水、ミネラル豊富な土壌、そして四季による温度変化のもとで、根茎がゆっくりと成熟します。
